Why should I be part of AACC?

Comicbook collecting has recently witnessed a tremendous growth and national recognition. With the rapid expansion of all aspects of the hobby, it is important to have a nation-wide organization that will, through its standing committees, consult and mediate, free of charge, to its members should the circumstances arise. Membership in the AACC means that a commitment has been made to the organization's principles and precepts and that the members will endeavor to spread the goodwill and friendship that develops from the hobby of comicbook collecting.

How can I join?

It is really very easy!
The yearly membership fee of $25.00 will entitle a member to avail themselves of the services and assistance of the AACC. A quarterly newsletter will keep all members informed of events effecting the hobby and provide a network of information to the hobbyist. Memberships can be obtained by sending a check for $25.00 to:

CODE OF ETHICS

The comicbook, instrument of social change, societal criticism and commentary, has arrived at a point in its development where it has become necessary to form an organization to help promote a better understanding of the medium and its cultural heritage. The hobby has evolved to where it is necessary to recognize a standing body of experts and enthusiasts whose opinions and values will provide a foundation for grading, certification and authenticity. Therefore, the American Association of Comicbook Collectors (AACC) has adopted these standards and placed their promotion into the hands of this organization. Further, members of AACC have endorsed the spirit and purpose of this Code of Ethics as an important and vital instrument to the growth of the hobby. To this end, they have pledged themselves to abide and adhere to its principles based on the Code of Ethics.

  1. A member of the AACC is never relieved of the responsibility to fully observe this Code of Ethics

  2. As a member of AACC it is their duty to protect the public against any misrepresentations, unethical practices or fraud and it is their duty to deal with the public without exaggeration, concealment, deception, or misleading information.

  3. In the best interest of the organization, their associates, and their own business, a member should willingly share with other members the lessons of his experience and study for the benifit of all.

  4. As a member of AACC, one should conduct their business as to avoid controversies with fellow members. When a controversy arises, it should be submitted to the Ombudsman committee of the AACC in writing for arbitration. The decision in such arbitration should be accepted as final and binding.

  5. A member of AACC should never publicly criticize or express an opinion regarding a transaction unless requested to do so by one of the principals and their opinion should be rendered in accordance with professional courtesy and integrity.

  6. A member of AACC shall be careful at all times to present a true picture in their advertising and representations to the public. They shall neither advertise without disclosing their name, address and phone number and membership number nor permit any person associated with him to use such names without permission.

  7. A member of the AACC shall not undertake to provide services concerning an evaluation or grading of a comic, art work, or collectible where they have a present or contemplated interest or an appearance of conflict unless such interest is specifically disclosed to all affected parties.

  8. Members should not participate in the willful and wanton destruction, malicious alteration, defacement or mutilation of any comicbook, collectible, or resource that would diminish the availability and enjoyment of comic art.
